ABOUT ARF SEPA   >   FINANCIAL INFORMATION

Animal Rescue Foundation of SE PA, Inc. is a 501(c)3 all-volunteer organization and we’re very proud of the fact that we have very little overhead.  ARF SEPA adheres to following principles with regards to operating our organization and keeping administrative expenses low:

  • ARF SEPA is an all-volunteer organization that directs as much of every donated dollar possible to providing for the rescued cats and dogs in our care.  Because we are all-volunteer, ARF SEPA has no salaries to pay and very little overhead.

  • ARF SEPA utilizes a network of private volunteer foster homes to house cats and dogs prior to adoption.  Foster parents pay for food, supplies, etc. to care for foster pets as if they were their own.  When ARF SEPA receives donated food and supplies, we pass those donated items directly on to our foster parents.

  • ARF SEPA operates a feline adoption center out of donated space in Media, PA.  ARF SEPA pays for supplies (litter, food, etc.) for the space and cats are provided with complete veterinary care.  There is no rent to pay - 11’ by 15’ space is donated by The Four Paws Shoppe.

  • ARF SEPA has services and items donated which keeps administrative expenses as low as possible.  Examples are mailbox, phone/fax and printing are all donated, resulting in lower overhead and more funds available to provide for veterinary care, training, etc.

Virtually all of our income goes directly toward paying for veterinary care for homeless and at-risk pets.  Every pet is examined by a veterinarian, receives needed vaccinations, medications and testing, and pets are spayed or neutered through ARF SEPA. Also, if a pet has an injury, sickness or condition that requires surgery or additional care, no matter how expensive, ARF SEPA will spend any funding necessary to ensure our foster pets receive the best care to get back into good health to be adopted into a permanent, loving home.

In 2008, more than 99% of ARF SEPA’s income was spent directly on pet care – veterinary care, emergency boarding of pets and professional canine training for foster dogs with behavioral issues.
Here is a summary of ARF SEPA’s 2008 annual report:

Total Revenue:  $42,911
--donations:  $16,684
--program fees (adoptions):  $25,560
--fundraising program:  $667

Total Expenses:  $41,398
--animal care (veterinary, boarding, canine training):  $40,988
--printing:  $130
--administrative expenses:  $280

**note:  99.01% of ARF SEPA's 2008 funds were spent directly on caring for rescued pets through veterinary care/expenses, emergency of boarding of pets, and canine dog training.  Administrative expenses make up less than 1% of our expenditures because we get so much donated - we meet at a local library at no cost, and many other services (postage/UPS store mailbox, phone/fax, printing/copies, etc.) are donated.  Our feline adoption center space is donated by Four Paws Shoppe so there is no rent to pay.

ARF SEPA’s EIN for tax reporting purposes on file with the Internal Revenue Service is 20-3469938.

ARF SEPA is proud of the way we use our finances, and we invite you to ask any questions or request to see any of our financial documents.  We'd be pleased to share our financial information with you.
