SPECIAL PROGRAMS   >   VETERINARY CARE

All ARF SEPA pets are examined by a licensed veterinarian, receive any needed testing and vaccinations, plus any other needed veterinary care. We will even pay for surgeries and other expensive care if needed to help pets get healthy and find their forever homes. Recently, ARF SEPA paid for a ligament repair for a basset hound ($1200), a month-long hospital stay to cure a Staffordshire terrier of the worst mange we have ever seen ($1700), and we also paid for surgery to repair a broken bone in a four-month old German shepherd that must have been kicked by someone as a puppy. Additionally, many pets rescued from shelters have upper respiratory infections and pneumonia, all requiring expensive antibiotics to get them healthy. At ARF SEPA, we will do whatever we can to help an adoptable pet get back on his or her paws and find a home. All adult pets are spay/neutered and microchipped prior to adoption, and kittens and puppies can be spay/neutered and microchipped at the appropriate age at a participating ARF SEPA veterinarian.

ARF SEPA utilizes a network of participating veterinarians to provide care and keep costs low. Due to the fact that we are rescuing so many homeless pets - more than 200 in the first half of 2006 alone - our veterinary expenses are expected to be more than $75,000 this year alone. You can contribute to ARF SEPA and help offset our veterinary bills by using PayPal or sending a donation to: Animal Rescue Foundation of SE PA, Inc., 1167 West Baltimore Pike, #222, Media, PA 19063.
